Description

Quick and easy biscuits made with just self-rising flour, shortening, and milk, ready in under 15 minutes.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups self-rising flour
  • ¼ cup shortening
  • ¾ cup milk

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 500°F (260°C).
  2. In a large bowl, whisk the flour to fluff and remove clumps.
  3. Add ¼ cup shortening and blend until it resembles cornmeal.
  4. Add ¾ cup milk and stir until a sticky dough forms.
  5. Knead the dough a few times until smooth, adding flour if too sticky.
  6. Pat the dough until it’s about ¾ inch thick.
  7. Cut out biscuits with a cutter, pressing down without twisting.
  8. Place biscuits into a greased baking pan or on parchment paper.
  9. Bake for 8–12 minutes until the tops are golden brown.

Notes

For best texture, keep ingredients cold and don’t over-knead. A sharp cutter helps achieve a good rise.
