Description
A rich and hearty sauce perfect for pasta, this Authentic Bolognese Sauce combines ground beef, pork, and aromatic vegetables for an Italian classic.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 onion, diced
- 1 carrot, diced
- 1 celery stalk, diced
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 lb ground beef
- 1 lb ground pork
- 2 cans (14 oz each) crushed tomatoes
- 2 tablespoons tomato paste
- 1 cup red wine
- 1 cup beef broth
- 1 teaspoon dried oregano
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- Fresh basil, for garnish
- Grated Parmesan cheese, for serving
Instructions
- Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the diced onion, carrot, and celery. Sauté until they soften and become fragrant.
- Stir in the minced garlic, cooking just until it becomes aromatic.
- Add the ground beef and ground pork, cooking until browned and thoroughly cooked through.
- Pour in the red wine, allowing it to simmer until most of the alcohol evaporates.
- Stir in the crushed tomatoes, tomato paste, beef broth, dried oregano, salt, and pepper. Mix well to combine all ingredients.
- Reduce the heat to low and let the sauce simmer for at least 30 minutes, stirring occasionally to prevent sticking.
- Serve the sauce over cooked pasta, garnishing with fresh basil and grated Parmesan cheese.
Notes
For even richer flavor, allow the sauce to simmer for 1-2 hours if time permits. Use high-quality meats and fresh vegetables for the best results.
