- 12 chicken drumsticks
- 1/4 cup olive oil
- 1 tsp garlic salt
- 1/2 tsp black pepper
- 1/4 tsp cayenne pepper
- 1/2 tsp paprika
- 1/4 tsp onion powder
- 1 1/2 cups BBQ sauce or to taste
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 400 degrees Fahrenheit. Line a rimmed baking sheet with foil and spray with cooking spray.
- Combine the olive oil, garlic salt, black pepper, cayenne pepper, paprika, and onion powder in a bowl or ziplock bag.
- Coat each chicken drumstick in the olive oil and spice mixture.
- Place the coated drumsticks on the prepared baking sheet and bake for 20 minutes.
- Remove the chicken from the oven and coat generously with BBQ sauce.
- Return the chicken to the oven for an additional 20 to 25 minutes, or until the internal temperature reaches 165 degrees Fahrenheit.
- Broil on high for the last 5 minutes of cooking for caramelization.
- Serve hot, drizzled with extra BBQ sauce if desired.
Notes
For more flavor, marinate the chicken in the spice mix for a few hours or overnight. Adjust the spice level by altering cayenne pepper quantity. Use a meat thermometer for perfect cooking.
