Description

Juicy, flavorful chicken drumsticks baked in the oven with a smoky BBQ flavor, perfect for weeknight dinners or gatherings.


Ingredients

  • 12 chicken drumsticks
  • 1/4 cup olive oil
  • 1 tsp garlic salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 1/4 tsp cayenne pepper
  • 1/2 tsp paprika
  • 1/4 tsp onion powder
  • 1 1/2 cups BBQ sauce or to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400 degrees Fahrenheit. Line a rimmed baking sheet with foil and spray with cooking spray.
  2. Combine the olive oil, garlic salt, black pepper, cayenne pepper, paprika, and onion powder in a bowl or ziplock bag.
  3. Coat each chicken drumstick in the olive oil and spice mixture.
  4. Place the coated drumsticks on the prepared baking sheet and bake for 20 minutes.
  5. Remove the chicken from the oven and coat generously with BBQ sauce.
  6. Return the chicken to the oven for an additional 20 to 25 minutes, or until the internal temperature reaches 165 degrees Fahrenheit.
  7. Broil on high for the last 5 minutes of cooking for caramelization.
  8. Serve hot, drizzled with extra BBQ sauce if desired.

Notes

For more flavor, marinate the chicken in the spice mix for a few hours or overnight. Adjust the spice level by altering cayenne pepper quantity. Use a meat thermometer for perfect cooking.
