Ingredients

- 1 1/4 kilograms beef
- 1 cup tomato sauce
- 1/2 cup soy sauce
- 3 tbsp tomato paste
- 2 fresh lemons, juice
- 3 medium potatoes
- 1 can liver spread
- 3 star anise
- 2 bay leaves
- 4 tbsp margarine
- 60g grated cheese
- 2 pcs bell peppers
- 5 cloves garlic
- 1 large onion
- 1 pc beef cube
- 4 cups water
- 2 tbsp brown sugar
- Ground black pepper
Instructions
- Marinate the beef with lemon juice, soy sauce, and ground black pepper for about 1 hour and strain the marinade sauce.
- Fry the potatoes in oil until cooked through and set aside.
- Sauté garlic in margarine until golden brown, then add diced onion and sliced bell peppers until tender.
- Add bay leaves and tomato paste, stirring for 2 minutes.
- Add the marinated beef and sauté until browned.
- Incorporate liver spread, tomato sauce, and strained marinade, and sauté for 5 minutes.
- Pour in water and add the beef cube, letting it simmer until the beef is tender.
- Add star anise and brown sugar, cooking until sauce thickens.
- Serve with fried potatoes and rice as a complete meal.
Notes
For a heart-healthy version, opt for lean cuts of beef and low-sodium soy sauce. This dish can also be made in a slow cooker.
