- 1 can (21 oz) cherry pie filling
- 1 box (15.25 oz) yellow cake mix
- 1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter, melted
- ½ cup chopped walnuts or pecans
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Lightly grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
- Dump the entire can of cherry pie filling into the prepared baking dish, spreading it evenly.
- Sprinkle the dry yellow cake mix over the cherry filling without stirring.
- Melt the butter and pour it evenly over the top of the cake mix.
- Optional: Sprinkle chopped nuts on top before placing the dish in the oven.
- Bake for 45 to 50 minutes or until the top is golden and bubbly.
- Let it cool slightly for 10-15 minutes before serving.
Notes
For a dairy-free version, use vegan butter or melted coconut oil. Substitute nuts with oats or sunflower seeds to accommodate allergies.
