- 1 loaf of French bread or baguette
- 4 ripe tomatoes, diced
- 2 cloves of garlic, minced
- 1/4 cup of fresh basil, chopped
- 2 tablespoons of balsamic vinegar
- 1/4 cup of olive oil
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C).
- Slice the French bread into 1/2 inch thick slices.
- Place the bread slices on a baking sheet and brush them lightly with olive oil.
- Toast the bread in the oven for about 5-7 minutes, or until golden brown.
- In a bowl, mix the diced tomatoes, minced garlic, chopped basil, balsamic vinegar, olive oil, salt, and pepper.
- Once the bread is toasted, remove it from the oven and let it cool slightly.
- Top each slice of toasted bread with the tomato mixture.
- Serve immediately or allow it to reach room temperature.
Notes
For the best flavor, use ripe, in-season tomatoes. Let the assembled bruschetta sit for a few minutes before serving to blend the flavors.
