- 2 pounds potatoes, thinly sliced
- 2 cups heavy cream
- 1 cup shredded cheese (cheddar or gruyere)
- 2 cloves garlic, minced

- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
- 1 tablespoon butter (for greasing the baking dish)
- Optional: fresh parsley for garnish
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Grease a baking dish with butter.
- In a large bowl, mix together the heavy cream, minced garlic, salt, pepper, and nutmeg.
- Layer half of the sliced potatoes in the baking dish, then pour half of the cream mixture over the potatoes.
- Sprinkle half of the cheese over the cream mixture.
- Repeat with remaining potatoes, cream mixture, and cheese.
- Cover with foil and bake for 1 hour.
- Remove foil and bake for an additional 20-30 minutes, until the top is golden and bubbly.
- Let it cool for a few minutes, garnish with parsley if desired, and serve.
Notes
Use a mandoline for evenly sliced potatoes to help them cook evenly. You can add more cheese for an extra cheesy flavor. Consider adding cooked bacon or ham for a savory twist.
