Ingredients

- 1 lb ground pork
- 4 scallions, thinly sliced (whites and greens)
- 3 cloves garlic, grated
- 1 tbsp fresh ginger, grated
- 3 tbsp soy sauce or tamari
- 1 tsp toasted sesame oil
- 1–2 tsp chili crisp (to taste)
- Splash of rice vinegar
- ¾ tsp white pepper (or black pepper)
- 1–2 tbsp chicken broth or water
- Wonton or dumpling wrappers
- Small bowl of water (for sealing wrappers)
Instructions
- In a large bowl, add the ground pork, sliced scallions (both whites and greens), grated garlic, grated ginger, soy sauce or tamari, toasted sesame oil, chili crisp, rice vinegar, white pepper, and chicken broth or water. Mix everything until the filling looks smooth and well combined.
- Grab a deep baking dish or a Dutch oven and spread a thin, even layer of the pork mixture on the bottom. Lay wonton or dumpling wrappers directly on top of the filling, slightly overlapping if necessary.
- Continue layering the pork mixture and wrappers while gently pressing down on each layer to maintain compactness. Repeat this process until you’ve utilized all the filling.
- Carefully pour about 1 cup of water or chicken broth around the edges of the dish. Cover the dish tightly with foil or a lid.
- Bake in a preheated oven until the pork is thoroughly cooked and the wrappers are soft and tender, mimicking the classic texture of dumplings.
- Once out of the oven, drizzle with extra soy sauce or tamari, a touch of sesame oil, and chili crisp to taste. Garnish with sliced scallions and sesame seeds. Scoop, serve hot, and enjoy!
