A delightful dessert that captures the spirit of Christmas with its soft chocolatey rolled cake filled with whipped cream and covered in rich chocolate frosting.

- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1/4 cup cocoa powder
- 1/2 tsp baking powder
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 4 large eggs
- 1/2 cup milk
- 1/2 cup vegetable oil
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 2 cups heavy cream
- 2 tbsp powdered sugar
- 1/2 cup chocolate frosting
- Chocolate shavings for decoration
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 15×10 inch jelly roll pan and line it with parchment paper.
- In a large bowl, mix flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt.
- In another bowl, whisk together eggs, milk, vegetable oil, and vanilla extract.
- Gradually add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients and mix until combined.
- Pour the batter into the prepared pan, spreading it evenly.
- Bake for 12-15 minutes or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
- Remove from the oven and let cool for a few minutes, then invert onto a clean kitchen towel dusted with powdered sugar.
- Roll the cake gently in the towel from the short end and let it cool completely.
- Meanwhile, whip heavy cream and powdered sugar until stiff peaks form.
- Unroll the cooled cake, spread chocolate frosting evenly on it, then layer whipped cream over the frosting.
- Roll the cake back up carefully, seam side down, and trim the ends if needed.
- Frost the outside with remaining chocolate frosting and decorate with chocolate shavings.
- Chill in the refrigerator until serving.
Notes
For a different flavor, try using coffee extract instead of vanilla or add crushed peppermint candies to the whipped cream for a festive touch.
