Description

Delightful corn fritters that are crispy on the outside and soft on the inside, perfect as a snack or side dish.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup corn kernels (fresh or canned)
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 large egg
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • Oil for frying

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, combine the corn, flour, baking powder, sugar, salt, and pepper.
  2. In a separate bowl, whisk together the egg and milk.
  3. Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and mix until just combined.
  4. Heat oil in a frying pan over medium heat.
  5. Drop spoonfuls of the batter into the hot oil and fry until golden brown on both sides.
  6. Remove and drain on paper towels.
  7. Serve warm, optionally with applesauce or syrup.

Notes

Ensure oil is hot enough before frying for a crispy exterior. Avoid overmixing the batter for the fluffiest fritters.
