Description

A creamy and rich holiday drink perfect for celebrating with friends and family.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 cups milk (or almond milk)
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1/2 cup sugar (or sweetener of choice)
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1/2 cup whiskey or rum (optional)

Instructions

  1. In a mixing bowl, whisk the eggs and sugar until well combined.
  2. In a saucepan, heat the milk over medium heat until hot but not boiling.
  3. Slowly add the hot milk to the egg mixture while whisking constantly to temper the eggs.
  4. Return the mixture to the saucepan and cook on low heat until it thickens slightly.
  5. Stir in the vanilla extract, nutmeg, and whiskey or rum if using.
  6. Chill in the refrigerator before serving.
  7. Serve cold, garnished with additional nutmeg.

Notes

For a richer flavor, let the eggnog chill overnight before serving. Ensure to use pasteurized eggs for safety.
