Description

A delightful twist on classic meatloaf, featuring caramelized onions and melted cheese for a comforting family meal.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 cup caramelized onions
  • 1 cup shredded cheese (such as Swiss or Gruyère)
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1 egg
  • 1/2 cup ketchup
  • 2 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tsp herbs (such as thyme or parsley)
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp pepper

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a skillet, caramelize the onions until golden brown.
  3. In a large bowl, combine ground beef, caramelized onions, breadcrumbs, egg, ketchup, Worcestershire sauce, herbs, salt, and pepper.
  4. Shape the mixture into a loaf and place it in a baking dish.
  5. Top with shredded cheese.
  6. Bake for about 1 hour, or until cooked through.
  7. Let rest for a few minutes before slicing and serving.

Notes

For extra flavor, add garlic or onion powder to the meat mixture. Let the meatloaf rest after baking for juicier slices.
