A simple and delicious Garlic Herb Dutch Oven Bread recipe, perfect for any meal.
Ingredients
Scale
- 3 cups all-purpose flour, plus extra for dusting
- 2 teaspoons fine sea salt
- 1/2 teaspoon instant yeast
- 1 1/2 cups lukewarm water (90-100°F)
- 4 cloves garlic, minced finely or pressed
- 2 tablespoons fresh herbs (rosemary, thyme, or combination), chopped finely
- 1 tablespoon olive oil, for coating
Instructions
- In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, salt, and instant yeast. Add the minced garlic and chopped herbs, stirring until well combined.
- Pour in the lukewarm water and stir using a wooden spoon until no dry flour remains.
- Cover the bowl tightly with plastic wrap or a damp towel and let it rise at room temperature for 12 to 18 hours until it doubles in size.
- Flour a work surface and your hands, then gently scrape the dough out onto the floured surface and fold the edges towards the center to form a round shape.
- Place the shaped dough on oiled parchment paper, cover it loosely with a towel, and let it rest for 45 minutes to an hour.
- Meanwhile, preheat your Dutch oven to 450°F for 30 minutes.
- Carefully remove the hot Dutch oven from the oven and lower the dough into the pot using the parchment paper. Score the top with a knife.
- Cover with the lid and bake for 30 minutes. Remove the lid and bake uncovered for 15 to 20 minutes until deep golden brown.
- Remove the bread from the Dutch oven and transfer it to a wire rack. Let it cool for at least 30 minutes before slicing.
