Description

A delightful twist on the classic cocktail, combining rich flavors of gingerbread with vodka and Kahlúa, perfect for the holiday season.


Ingredients

  • For the Gingerbread Syrup:
  • 1 1/3 cups water
  • 1/2 cup honey (or maple syrup)
  • 2 tablespoons molasses
  • 2-inch piece of fresh ginger (thinly sliced)
  • 2 cinnamon sticks
  • 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
  • For the Cocktail:
  • Ice
  • 2 ounces vodka
  • 1 ounce Kahlúa or other coffee liqueur
  • 1 ounce gingerbread syrup (or more, to taste)
  • 12 ounces heavy cream
  • Cinnamon and sugar mixture for rimming the glass
  • Mini gingerbread cookies for garnish
  • Ground cinnamon or nutmeg for dusting

Instructions

  1. To Make the Gingerbread Syrup: In a medium saucepan, combine water, honey (or maple syrup), molasses, sliced ginger, cinnamon sticks, and vanilla extract. Bring to a boil over medium-high heat, stirring to dissolve the sweetener.
  2. Once boiling, reduce heat and simmer for 15-20 minutes until fragrant and slightly thickened. Remove from heat and let cool. Strain out ginger and cinnamon sticks; store syrup in the refrigerator.
  3. To Assemble the Cocktail: Rim the glass with a cinnamon-sugar mixture. Fill with ice.
  4. In a shaker, combine vodka, Kahlúa, and gingerbread syrup; shake well.
  5. Pour the mixture over the ice and gently pour heavy cream over the top to create layers.
  6. Garnish with ground cinnamon or nutmeg and a mini gingerbread cookie. Enjoy!

Notes

Adjust sweetness by modifying the amount of gingerbread syrup. Chill ingredients in advance for a frosty cocktail.
