Crispy on the outside and soft on the inside, these easy homemade churros with chocolate sauce are the perfect snack or dessert for any occasion.

- 1/2 cup white sugar
- 1 1/2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
- 1 1/2 tablespoons white sugar
- 1 cup water
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 2 tablespoons vegetable oil, plus more for frying
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 3 1/2 ounces dark chocolate, chopped
- 1/2 cup heavy cream
Instructions
- In a small bowl, mix together 1/2 cup of white sugar and 1 1/2 teaspoons of ground cinnamon.
- In a medium saucepan, heat the water, 2 tablespoons of vegetable oil, salt, and 1 1/2 tablespoons of white sugar over medium-high heat until it comes to a gentle boil.
- Remove from heat and stir in the flour until a ball forms and the dough pulls away from the sides.
- Let the dough cool for about 10 minutes.
- Heat oil in a deep frying pan over medium heat to 375°F.
- Transfer the dough to a pastry bag fitted with a star tip.
- Pipe strips of dough into the hot oil and fry until golden brown, about 2-3 minutes per side.
- Remove and drain on paper towels, then coat in the cinnamon-sugar mixture.
- For the chocolate sauce, combine the chopped dark chocolate and heavy cream in a small saucepan over low heat, stirring until smooth.
- Serve churros warm with chocolate sauce for dipping.
Notes
Be careful when frying to avoid splatters; maintain oil temperature for best results. Fresh churros are best enjoyed immediately.
