Description

Huli Huli Chicken is a delightful and flavorful dish that combines sweet and tangy flavors, perfect for any occasion.


Ingredients

  • 4 boneless, skinless chicken thighs or breasts
  • ½ cup soy sauce
  • ½ cup brown sugar
  • ¼ cup ketchup
  • ¼ cup pineapple juice
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon fresh ginger, grated
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
  • 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
  • Green onions, sliced (for garnish)
  • Sesame seeds (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Marinade: In a large bowl, whisk together the soy sauce, brown sugar, ketchup, pineapple juice, minced garlic, grated ginger, vegetable oil, rice vinegar, black pepper, and red pepper flakes if using.
  2. Marinate the Chicken: Add the chicken to the marinade and cover. Refrigerate for at least 60 minutes, preferably overnight.
  3. Preheat the Grill or Oven: Preheat your grill to medium-high heat or oven to 375°F (190°C).
  4. Cook the Chicken: Remove chicken from marinade and shake off excess. Grill for 6-7 minutes on each side until internal temperature reaches 165°F (75°C) or bake for 25-30 minutes until cooked through.
  5. Glaze with Marinade: Brush additional marinade over the chicken during the last few minutes of cooking.
  6. Serve: Let chicken rest for a few minutes, garnish with green onions and sesame seeds, then serve.

Notes

For best flavor, marinate overnight. Adjust spice levels with red pepper flakes or jalapeños as desired.
