Description
A simple and delicious no knead cheddar bread made in a Dutch oven, perfect for snacking or as a side dish.
Ingredients
Scale
- 3 cups All-Purpose Flour
- 1 1/2 cups Lukewarm Water (about 105°F/40°C)
- 1 1/4 teaspoons Instant Yeast
- 1 1/2 teaspoons Kosher Salt
- 1 cup Sharp Cheddar Cheese (shredded)
- 1/2 teaspoon Flaky Sea Salt (for topping)
Instructions
- In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, instant yeast, and kosher salt. Gradually add the lukewarm water and mix with a rubber spatula until just combined. Fold in the shredded cheddar cheese, cover tightly, and let it rise for 12 to 18 hours.
- After fermentation, lightly flour a surface and scrape the dough onto it. Fold it over 2 to 3 times to form a rough ball. Cover loosely and let it rest for 30 minutes. Preheat the oven to 450°F (232°C) with a Dutch oven inside.
- Remove the hot Dutch oven, transfer the dough into it, and sprinkle with flaky sea salt. Cover and bake for 30 minutes.
- After 30 minutes, remove the lid and bake for an additional 15 to 20 minutes until golden brown and the internal temperature reaches 200°F to 210°F (93°C–99°C).
Notes
Use fresh ingredients and allow proper rise times for the best flavor and texture. Experiment with different cheeses for variations.
