Description

A simple and delicious no knead cheddar bread made in a Dutch oven, perfect for snacking or as a side dish.


Ingredients

  • 3 cups All-Purpose Flour
  • 1 1/2 cups Lukewarm Water (about 105°F/40°C)
  • 1 1/4 teaspoons Instant Yeast
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons Kosher Salt
  • 1 cup Sharp Cheddar Cheese (shredded)
  • 1/2 teaspoon Flaky Sea Salt (for topping)

Instructions

  1. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, instant yeast, and kosher salt. Gradually add the lukewarm water and mix with a rubber spatula until just combined. Fold in the shredded cheddar cheese, cover tightly, and let it rise for 12 to 18 hours.
  2. After fermentation, lightly flour a surface and scrape the dough onto it. Fold it over 2 to 3 times to form a rough ball. Cover loosely and let it rest for 30 minutes. Preheat the oven to 450°F (232°C) with a Dutch oven inside.
  3. Remove the hot Dutch oven, transfer the dough into it, and sprinkle with flaky sea salt. Cover and bake for 30 minutes.
  4. After 30 minutes, remove the lid and bake for an additional 15 to 20 minutes until golden brown and the internal temperature reaches 200°F to 210°F (93°C–99°C).

Notes

Use fresh ingredients and allow proper rise times for the best flavor and texture. Experiment with different cheeses for variations.
