Description

A tender beef pot roast infused with rich flavors from caramelized onions and savory broth, perfect for gatherings or family meals.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 34 lbs beef chuck roast
  • 2 large onions, sliced
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • 1 cup French onion soup
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Fresh thyme for garnish

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 300°F (150°C).
  2. In a large skillet, brown the chuck roast on all sides over medium-high heat.
  3. Remove the roast and set it aside.
  4. In the same skillet, add sliced onions and cook until caramelized, about 10-15 minutes.
  5. Add garlic and cook for an additional minute.
  6. In a roasting pan, place the browned roast. Pour the caramelized onions over it and add beef broth, French onion soup, and Worcestershire sauce.
  7. Season with salt and pepper.
  8. Cover with aluminum foil or a lid and roast in the oven for 3-4 hours, or until the meat is tender.
  9. Serve garnished with fresh thyme.

Notes

For extra flavor, let the roast sit with salt and pepper for about an hour before cooking. You can add vegetables like carrots or potatoes to the roasting pan for a complete meal.
