Description

A deliciously rich and tender dish featuring beef short ribs, flavored with gochugaru and slow-braised for maximum tenderness.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 pounds beef short ribs
  • 1/2 cup soy sauce
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup gochugaru (Korean red pepper flakes)
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 inch ginger, sliced
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • 2 green onions, sliced
  • Sesame seeds for garnish

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 325°F (163°C).
  2. In a large bowl, mix together soy sauce, brown sugar, gochugaru, sesame oil, garlic, and ginger.
  3. Place the beef short ribs in a large pot or Dutch oven and pour the sauce over them, ensuring they are well coated.
  4. Add beef broth to the pot.
  5. Cover the pot with a lid and place it in the oven.
  6. Braise for about 180 minutes or until the meat is tender and falls off the bone.
  7. Remove from the oven and let cool slightly.
  8. Skim any fat from the top of the sauce if necessary.
  9. Serve the ribs with the sauce, garnishing with sliced green onions and sesame seeds.

Notes

Choose well-marbled short ribs for better flavor. For deeper flavors, consider marinating overnight.
