Description

Deliciously simple quark oat fritters that are nutritious and versatile for any meal.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup quark
  • 1/2 cup rolled oats
  • 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 large egg
  • 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 tablespoons milk or water
  • Vegetable oil for frying

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, combine the quark, egg, sugar, milk or water, and vanilla extract. Whisk until smooth.
  2. In a separate bowl, whisk together the rolled oats, all-purpose flour, baking powder, and salt.
  3. Add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients. Stir until just combined, being careful not to overmix.
  4. Let the batter rest for 10 minutes to allow the oats to soften.
  5. Heat about 1 inch of vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
  6. When the oil is hot, drop spoonfuls of the batter into the skillet, avoiding overcrowding.
  7. Cook the fritters for 3 to 4 minutes on each side, or until golden brown and cooked through.
  8. Remove the fritters from the skillet and place them on a plate lined with paper towels to drain excess oil.
  9. Serve warm with preferred toppings like fresh fruit, maple syrup, or powdered sugar.

Notes

Let the batter rest to ensure better texture. Don’t skimp on oil for even frying.
