Description

A delightful casserole that combines rich cheddar cheese and tender potatoes, perfect for family gatherings and potlucks.


Ingredients

  • 3 lbs russet or Yukon gold potatoes, peeled and thinly sliced
  • 3 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 cups heavy cream
  • 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon paprika

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a baking dish.
  2. Melt the butter in a large skillet over medium heat, add garlic, and sauté for 1-2 minutes.
  3. Stir in the heavy cream, salt, pepper, and paprika; bring to a simmer.
  4. Layer half of the sliced potatoes in the greased dish and pour half of the cream mixture over them.
  5. Sprinkle half of the cheddar cheese on top.
  6. Repeat with remaining potatoes, cream mixture, and cheese.
  7. Cover with aluminum foil and bake for 45 minutes.
  8. Remove foil and bake an additional 15 minutes until the top is golden and bubbly.
  9. Let cool for a few minutes before serving.

Notes

For best results, slice the potatoes evenly and allow the bake to sit for a few minutes before serving.
