Description

An indulgent and flavorful roasted prime rib dish, perfect for special occasions that brings the steakhouse experience home.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 standing rib roast (prime rib), 5–6 lbs
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter, softened
  • 6 cloves garlic, minced
  • Fresh herbs (such as rosemary and thyme), to taste
  • Salt and pepper, to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 450°F (232°C).
  2. Rub the prime rib with olive oil, then season generously with salt, pepper, minced garlic, and fresh herbs.
  3. Place the roast in a roasting pan with the fat side up.
  4. Roast in the preheated oven for 20 minutes, then reduce the temperature to 325°F (163°C) and continue to roast until the meat reaches your desired doneness, about 90-120 minutes for medium-rare.
  5. Baste the roast with the juices every 30 minutes.
  6. Once done, let the prime rib rest for at least 20 minutes before slicing.

Notes

Select a high-quality prime rib roast for best results. Use a meat thermometer for accurate doneness.
