Description

A creamy, cheesy side dish made with layers of tender potatoes, rich cream, and melted cheddar cheese. Perfect for family gatherings and holiday feasts.


Ingredients

  • 4 medium potatoes
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 2 cups heavy cream
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon pepper
  • 1 onion, thinly sliced
  • Fresh parsley, for garnish

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Thinly slice the potatoes and onion.
  3. In a greased baking dish, layer the potatoes and onion.
  4. In a saucepan, melt the butter, then add garlic and cook until fragrant.
  5. Stir in heavy cream, salt, and pepper.
  6. Pour the mixture over the potatoes.
  7. Top with shredded cheddar cheese.
  8. Cover with foil and bake for 45 minutes.
  9. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 15 minutes until bubbly and golden.
  10. Garnish with parsley before serving.

Notes

For a crispy top layer, broil the scalloped potatoes for a few minutes after baking.
