Description
A delicious and tender pulled pork dish that’s easy to make and packed with rich BBQ flavor, perfect for gatherings.
Ingredients
Scale
- 4–5 pounds pork shoulder
- 1 cup BBQ sauce
- 1 onion, diced
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tablespoon paprika
- 1 tablespoon brown sugar
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional)
- Buns for serving
Instructions
- Prepare the pork: Start by placing the pork shoulder into your slow cooker. Make sure it fits nicely.
- Mix the sauce: In a separate bowl, mix together the BBQ sauce, diced onion, minced garlic, paprika, brown sugar, salt, black pepper, and cayenne pepper (if you’re using it). This combination will create a flavorful marinade for your pork.
- Combine everything: Pour this delightful mixture over the pork in the slow cooker, ensuring that the meat is nicely coated.
- Cook low and slow: Cover the slow cooker and set it to cook on low for about 480-600 minutes. The goal is to let the pork become incredibly tender and easily shred apart.
- Shred the pork: Once your cooking time is up, use two forks to shred the pork right in the slow cooker. Mix it well with the remaining BBQ sauce for an extra flavor punch.
- Serve it up: Finally, pile the shredded BBQ pulled pork onto buns and add additional BBQ sauce if desired.
Notes
Let the shredded pork sit in BBQ sauce for at least 20 minutes before serving for more flavor.
