Ingredients

  • 1 piece Beef Roast (chuck or round cuts)
  • 1 medium Onion (sliced)
  • 4 cups Beef Broth (low-sodium)
  • 2 tablespoons Worcestershire Sauce
  • 2 tablespoons Soy Sauce (gluten-free if needed)
  • 1 teaspoon Garlic Powder
  • 1 teaspoon Onion Powder
  • 1 teaspoon Dried Thyme
  • 1 teaspoon Black Pepper
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
  • 2 tablespoons Cornstarch
  • 1/4 cup Cold Water
  • 6 slices Bread (white or Texas toast)
  • 4 cups Mashed Potatoes

Instructions

  1. Prepare your ingredients by slicing the onion.
  2. Place the beef roast in the slow cooker and sprinkle with garlic powder, onion powder, thyme, black pepper, and salt.
  3. Pour in the beef broth, Worcestershire sauce, and soy sauce, then add the sliced onions on top.
  4. Cover and set the slow cooker to low for 8 hours or high for 4 hours.
  5. Once cooked, remove the beef and shred it using two forks.
  6. Thicken the sauce by mixing cornstarch and cold water into a slurry and cooking it in the slow cooker for an additional 20 minutes on high.
  7. Serve the shredded beef on bread or atop mashed potatoes, drizzling with sauce.

Notes

For a thicker sauce, let your cornstarch slurry cook longer. This recipe is great for leftovers!
