Description

Delightful Soft and Chewy Gingerbread Men Cookies are perfect for holiday gatherings, bringing warmth and nostalgia to your kitchen.


Ingredients

  • 3/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 3/4 cup brown sugar
  • 3/4 cup molasses
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 Tbsp ground cinnamon
  • 1 Tbsp ground ginger
  • 1/2 tsp nutmeg
  • 1/2 tsp cloves
  • 1 whole egg
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 33 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 cups powdered sugar (for frosting)
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract (for frosting)
  • 34 Tbsp milk (for frosting)
  • Decorative candies or sprinkles (optional)

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, mix the melted butter and brown sugar until smooth.
  2. Add the molasses, vanilla extract, and salt, then mix until well combined.
  3. In a separate bowl, whisk together the ground spices and baking soda. Gradually add this spice mixture to the wet ingredients until fully incorporated.
  4. Add the flour a little at a time, stirring until a soft dough forms. If sticky, add a bit more flour.
  5. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  6. Roll out the dough on a floured surface to about 1/4 inch thick.
  7. Cut out gingerbread men shapes and place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  8. Bake for 8-10 minutes or until edges are firm. Allow to cool on a wire rack.
  9. For the frosting, combine powdered sugar, vanilla extract, and milk until smooth.
  10. Once cooled, decorate with frosting and add candies or sprinkles as desired.

Notes

Store cookies in an airtight container at room temperature for up to one week. For longer storage, freeze for up to three months.
