Description
A delightful twist on the classic meatloaf, packed with juicy ground beef, savory bacon, creamy Swiss cheese, and flavorful mushrooms.
Ingredients
Scale
- 2 lbs ground beef (80/20 preferred for juiciness)
- 1 cup shredded Swiss cheese
- 1 cup cooked bacon (chopped)
- 1 cup mushrooms (sliced and sautéed)
- 1 small onion (finely diced)
- 2 cloves garlic (minced)
- 2 large eggs
- 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
- 2 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Fresh parsley (optional, for garnish)
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with foil or use a loaf pan.
- Cook the bacon until crispy. Remove and set it aside.
- Sauté the mushrooms in the bacon fat until browned.
- In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, eggs, breadcrumbs, onion, garlic, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper.
- Gently mix in half of the shredded Swiss cheese.
- Shape the meat mixture into a loaf on the baking sheet. Press the remaining cheese, mushrooms, and bacon on top.
- Bake for 45–55 minutes, or until the internal temperature reaches 160°F (71°C).
- Rest for 10 minutes before slicing. Garnish with parsley and serve.
Notes
For added flavor, consider mixing in chopped herbs like thyme or parsley. Avoid overmixing to keep the meatloaf tender. Let it rest before slicing.
