Description
A delightful dessert combining rich, nutty pecans with smooth chocolate in a cozy pie that celebrates Texan tradition.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 ½ cups pecan halves
- 1 pre-made 9-inch pie crust (or homemade)
- ¾ cup granulated sugar
- ¼ cup light corn syrup
- ¼ cup unsalted butter, melted
- 2 large eggs
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- ¼ teaspoon salt
- ½ cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
- ¼ cup heavy cream
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Place the pie crust in a 9-inch pie pan and crimp the edges.
- Evenly spread the pecan halves along the bottom of the pie crust.
- In a medium-sized bowl, whisk together the sugar, corn syrup, melted butter, eggs, vanilla extract, and salt until smooth.
- Carefully pour the filling over the pecans, ensuring they are well-coated.
- In a small microwave-safe bowl, combine the chocolate chips and heavy cream. Microwave in 20-second intervals, stirring until smooth.
- Drizzle the melted chocolate over the pecan filling and swirl gently with a knife.
- Bake for 50-60 minutes until the filling is set but slightly jiggly in the center. Check doneness with a toothpick.
- Let the pie cool for at least 2 hours before slicing. Serve with whipped cream or ice cream if desired.
Notes
For extra flavor, consider lightly toasting the pecans before layering them in the crust. Make sure to use room temperature ingredients for a smooth filling.
