Description

A classic Thanksgiving dish that brings family and friends together with its juicy and flavorful meat.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 whole turkey
  • Salt
  • Pepper
  • Olive oil or butter
  • Fresh herbs (such as rosemary, thyme, and sage)
  • Garlic
  • Onions
  • Vegetables for roasting (such as carrots and celery)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 425°F (220°C).
  2. Break down the turkey by removing the legs, wings, and part of the backbone so it lays flat.
  3. Season the turkey with salt and pepper.
  4. Rub olive oil or butter on the skin, then add fresh herbs, garlic, and onions inside the cavity.
  5. Place the turkey on a large rimmed baking sheet.
  6. Roast in the oven for approximately 90 to 120 minutes, or until the internal temperature reaches 165°F (74°C).
  7. Allow the turkey to rest before carving and serving with roasted vegetables.

Notes

Make sure to thaw the turkey in the refrigerator if it is frozen. Use a meat thermometer to check the internal temperature. Let the turkey rest for at least 20 minutes before carving.
